When You Start Taking Flak

Several months ago, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) released a report entitled "The Quiet Retooling of the Militia Movement". Their focus centered on the primary organizational activities of volunteer constitutional militias in the USA. This is our basic recruitment, organizing, training and inter-militia networking. The Indiana Militia Corps figured prominently in the ADL report, so I guess we have finally "made the big time". You know you're doing something right when left-wing extremist hate groups like the ADL start slandering you and your associates.
It made me think of some dialogue by Sean Connery in "The Hunt for Red October", when he says "..Now they will tremble at the sound of our silence". Well, I must admit I was amused by the report if only for the fact that it resorted to melodrama to refer to the development of new militia doctrine as a 'quiet retooling'. Sorry, Abe, we're really not being 'quiet'; we're just exercising a little thing called OPERATIONAL SECURITY. What the ADL calls "investigative reports" are actually screeds developed from the information they cull from the Internet. What the ADL and their ilk do not tell people is that their monitoring of the patriot movement is largely limited to surfing the net the same way everyone else does.
Note to the ADL: Your information concerning my efforts with the 3rd Continental Congress is just plain wrong. You reported only 5 militias supporting 3CC, but that's only what I posted to the Internet; I chose to leave the rest off till later - for security reasons. Thanks for confirming the prudence of my precautions. You'll just have to guess how many have signed up with 3CC and your only hint; it's in the double digits.
While some people may feel comfortable discussing the minutiae of what they think and do on Internet message boards monitored by the ADL, I have strongly advocated that militia discussion groups be secured from domestic enemies of Liberty such as the ADL. Let's not forget that Colonel Charlie Puckett of the Kentucky State Militia was targeted partly because of his use of public message boards like AWRM.org.
This is not distrust or paranoia talking here. This is prudent caution in response to the outright fabrication of lies and other tactics which are employed for the implicit purpose of targeting law abiding militia members - leaders especially - and disrupt the effective development of militia organizations and the networking of militia leadership across the nation. It is an attempt to systematically suppress legitimate dissent, something that the ADL will not tolerate even within their own organization! ...More on that later...
The necessity of caution and discretion on the part of law-abiding American patriots is evidenced by the fact that ADL literature is distributed, free of charge, to every law-enforcement agency and office in this country. Generous donations to groups like the ADL and SPLC make it possible for them to poison the minds of conscientious police officers and other criminal justice professionals with propaganda designed to incite the police to view law-abiding patriots as 'the enemy' and as 'potential domestic terrorists'.
Let's make no bones about it. Every time the ADL can succeed in propagandizing the police to the point where they commit aggressions against peaceable Americans, this fuels their propaganda machine with further lurid tales of 'dangerous, outlaw militiamen bent on breaking the law', etc., ad nauseam. In turn, they create conditions whereby the police become increasingly wary of anyone who expresses traditional patriotic and constitutionalist opinions. Of course, the ADL is pretty good at creating a climate of intolerance. More on that later.
Since the early days of the modern patriot movement, enemies of Liberty like the ADL have sought to demonize and isolate us from the masses of Americans who haven't yet discovered that there is something seriously wrong in America today. When militia groups are effective & well led, groups like the ADL fire up their propaganda machine. Their rhetoric hasn't changed much, and for the educated observer, that is a good indicator that the ADL is operating from a position of dependency. They are dependent on the 'Big Lie' technique. Ironically, none other than Adolph Hitler advanced this technique to the science that it is today.
Their choice of words is slanted as to create the impression that patriots and the militia are being furtive, secretive. The truth is, if you're browsing the web, you can see that the opposite is true. There is a lot of patriot-movement activity that is conducted openly on the Internet.
They also despise the fact that Internet search engines such as Google and Dogpile do not skew their search results to place THEIR propaganda above more-oft visited patriot and militia websites that better fit the search results. Although some search engines such as Google accept 'paid placements' that are keyed to certain subjects, they have maintained their ethical integrity by locating these 'paid placements' in a separate space so that they are not confused with 'pure' search results. People are getting direct information rather than boilerplate, and this is includes net-savvy cops.
In my case, police in my area did not entirely believe the ADL lies; they politely contacted me and asked to meet in person. After a few introductions and preliminary questions, it became apparent to me that (as members of Indiana's joint antiterrorism task force) their concern was the manner of the ADL's (mis-)characterization of me. They initially thought I was some reckless revolutionary bent on creating some sort of mayhem. What the ADL did not know, nor would they have likely reported even had they known, is that I am also a criminal justice professional. I am no more likely to haul off and do something illegal than the Superintendent of the State Police. These gentlemen saw that, and that was the end of the discussion. They realized the ADL's report was pure exaggeration.
Although I had no intention of going public with it before this meeting, plans I had developed for police-militia cooperation were shared with them so that they could see that we were more interested in assistance than 'opposition'. If the militia can act to prevent another 9/11, you can damn well bet we're going to do what we can to help!
Of course, the ADL isn't going to report on all the good things that the militias do, such as charity drives and supporting our troops overseas. They're not going to report that we routinely as individuals and as organizations are benefiting our communities. To do so would place our dissent, criticism, and activism against political corruption in a different, more sympathetic light. It would show that patriots are concerned about the future of our country and our freedom, and that we desire to strengthen the blessings of Liberty for ourselves and for future generations. The ADL, on the other hand, has a proven track record of opposing fundamental American values and freedoms!
The ADL ends their 'reports' with a tally of recent (or not-so-recent) arrests of people that either claim to be a militia (remember, calling yourself a militia does not one make) -- or people who were indeed militia but were unlawfully entrapped; or were set up. Let's not forget that in some cases, people are attacked without cause and their legitimate acts of self-defense and self-preservation become the basis for malicious prosecution MERELY because they were fingered by the ADL as a militia activist!
That aside, even if we were to incorrectly assume that similar ADL 'arrest lists' of patriots were representative of the movement, it could be argued that of the hundreds of thousands of patriots & militia active across the country, there is a per-capita crime rate of less than 1% among patriots, FAR lower than almost any other demographic group in the nation. Why would this be the case for militia, in spite of the dire warnings of the ADL? It is because every militiaman has a duty to remain at a high state of readiness! It's impossible to be 'ready to muster' when you're sitting in a jail cell, that's why!
We're not here to overthrow the government. The people of this country ARE the government; and when the liberties of the people are undermined, those who pervert the Constitution and our nation's laws are the ones overthrowing the government (the people). Our job is to educate and activate, so that the limits of tyranny are proscribed by the resistance of those who would be targets of oppression.
It is for that very reason why this critique of the ADL is published. It has aligned itself against nearly everything good & decent in America. According to former ADL board member Carl Pearlston, the ADL views politically active conservative Christians as their enemy. Since militias are composed largely of conservative Christians, it is no surprise that they hate us so. Pearlston goes on to say that the ADL leadership lacks any tolerance for viewpoints other than their own; that the ADL leadership routinely purges members who do not show "..a sufficient demonstration of commitment to the organization" through "character assassination and name-calling"; and promotes "programs which increase awareness of racial identity, and result in racial separation and racial hostility". Sounds oddly like Nazis or communists, if you ask me. Again, the irony is peculiar.
I could continue at length commenting on Mr. Pearlston's statements, but instead I ask that you read his words for yourself, and then following that please read some articles chronicling the war of words between Ralph Nader and the ADL. Kevin Zeese, a spokesman for Nader's unsuccessful presidential campaign, noted that there is "a lack of free speech... because of the kind of threatening responses people get from the ADL".
We who are militia are not afraid of the ADL, not merely because their slander doesn't hurt us; and not because patriots automatically recognize that we hold the moral high ground. We are unafraid because we shall speak truth to power and ultimately be vindicated.
Abe Foxman, we're not 'quietly retooling'. We're seeking self-improvement. When you finally do hear the voice of America, your globalist, anti-freedom agenda will land on the ash heap of history.
